5 Christmas Movies to watch together as a family

Oh, Christmas time. These festive days and nights are so special. During the evenings, one of our favourite things to do is to have a movie night.

Here are 5 Christmas movies that are perfect for watching as a family, as everyone will be happy! You can find these movies online, on uk.chili.com for example, a new pay-per-view streaming platform.

The Grinch

Benedict Cumberbatch voices this new and animated version of The Grinch, with the classic storyline of the Grinch who tries to steal Christmas. This time, however, he is a bit more of a bright green. It’s a perfect family movie, one to leave you with the laughs and hope that everyone turns out with a happy Christmas. Plus, if you are a lover of the earlier versions of The Grinch like myself, you’ll get to follow along a story that you already hold close to your heart. And now, you get to share another version of it with your family.

The Santa Clause (and the two sequels)

The Santa Clause is a 1994 comedy about an ordinary man who after a certain turn of events, has to become the new Father Christmas. The movie follows along his adventures. There are two sequels to this film, The Santa Clause 2 (2002) and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006).

A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol (2009) is a classic Christmas movie. It follows the story of grouchy Ebenezer Scrooge who is visited by the ghost of his partner, Marley, whom passed away on Christmas Eve seven years prior. This year for Christmas Eve, Marley gives Scrooge a visit and tells him that three spirits will visit him that night. The spirits will help Scrooge face his own history and choices, and he will be left to choose what his future will be like.

Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas

Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas is an animated Disney film perfect for the holiday season. It is a midquel based off the original Beauty and the Beast, picking up after the fight with the wolves and just before the ballroom dance. If your kids have lovingly watched the original story, the Christmas spin on this movie is a fun way to settle in with a story you already love and carry on with your festive spirits.

Santa Buddies

This one is for all you dog-lovers! Santa Buddies is an Air Bud film that starts out with Father Christmas and his dog, Santa Paws. The Christmas spirit is down and people just don’t believe in Christmas as they once did, which is causing the magical Christmas Icicle to melt. The story follows Puppy Paws, Santa Paws’ son, and a number of other pups as the Christmas spirit is found once again. It’s an all-around good feels film that will leave you “aw-ing” over the pups, all while in Christmas mode.

This is only a small selection of Christmas movies, too! There are so many out there, so you will have plenty of options to choose from your movie nights during Christmas time.
