The older I get the more old fashioned I become, maybe it’s a hankering for my childhood but I’ll be needing a few hours of therapy to unpick that one – not a festive blog post! One of the things I would truly love to receive on Christmas Day is a really special stocking.

The thing is, when you’re a grown up you can buy yourself things year round. Whether they’re practical or indulgent, bought on a whim or saved for, within reason you get what you want more or less when you want it. So when it comes to Christmas it can be hard to think of something you actually need or want. I think a carefully chosen selection of stocking fillers is a wonderful way to show someone how well you know them and that you’ve thought of the little things. If a well thought out stocking is all I open on Christmas Day I’ll be a happy bunny.

I’ve put together what is basically my ultimate stocking filler, a treasure trove of little indulgent gifts which don’t break the bank but are real treats. The sorts of things most Mums don’t go out and buy themselves as we’re too busy kitting our kids out in the latest Little Bird collection. Some of the items below were kindly sent to me for inclusion in this post but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Burt’s Bees Burt’s bag of treats gift set contains four of their best selling products, all wrapped up in a beautiful, travel sized wash bag. I’ve been a big fan of the brand for years, I love their ethics and commitment to natural ingredients and importantly I think their lip balms are the best out there.

Baby B. Browne self-tanning lotion is designed to deeply moisturise whilst given you a wonderful glow. The lotion currently comes in one shade as it’s been created to react with each individual’s skin pigment to create a realistic looking tan that’s specific to you. I really like this lotion because it’s easy to apply to both face and body and the colour is really natural. It also fades evenly which is really important to me as I don’t have time to be exfoliating and reapplying on a weekly basis.

Local brand BPerfect Cosmetics have designed their BPrepared Concealer and Highlight as a multi purpose wand – not dissimilar to the YSL cult fave. It’s applied from a brush tip and can be used to erase dark circles, highlight nose, chin and upper lip or to carve out eyebrows. Personally, I really like using it under my eyebrows and above my lip. I find it adds a subtle glow, it’s more affordable than Touche Éclat and does the same job so it’s a winner for me.

Crabtree & Evelyn make the absolute best shortbread, you’ll never change my opinion on that. This slim tin of dark chocolate and hazelnut cookies is buttery and delicious, I could probably eat them all in one sitting. For just £7 and packaged in a really pretty tin they make a lovely stocking filler or even a gift for your children’s teacher.

There’s nothing like a bit of contour to try and give the illusion you haven’t eaten 100 mince pies this month. I really rate the contour tin from Profusion Cosmetics, it looks great, has a mirror and is only £8. There are three different contour shade and two highlights so it’s well suited to most complexions.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs is one of my favourite perfumes, I love the scent and the iconic bottle. This refillable mini set is budget and travel friendly – I’ll definitely be bringing this on our trips throughout 2018. I think it makes a lovely gift because it’s so convenient to toss in a bag and it’s a good way to try a high end perfume for a more affordable price.

As a busy Mum I just can’t justify getting a babysitter so I can go to the salon to get my nails done. Especially when in all likelihood they’ll be ruined by the rough and tumble of life with a toddler in no time. Enter Rimmel with their Super Gel Duo Packs. It’s basically two polishes, a gel colour and a top coat. The whole process takes about 20 minutes as it’s 3 coats in total but it lasts about 7 days which is pretty good in my book.

The Joan Collins timeless beauty duo is a perfect pairing of skin perfecting powder and hydrating lipstick. Divine Lips lipsticks are formulated not just to apply beautiful colour with lasting power, but to actively hydrate, so lips are softer, fuller, and dressed with fabulous colour. My kit contains an iconic red which is pure Holywood Glam in super luxe packaging. Meticulous Pressed Powder contains Hyaluronic Acid which hydrates and fills fine lines, whilst light reflecting particles help make the skin look more radiant and smoother. I often find that powders can be too chalky or settle in fine lines so I really love using this product to set and refresh my makeup.

These mini hand gels are cute, practical and smell fantastic. I love the Disney designs, which are limited edition and the formulation is really gentle. They don’t dry out my skin and they bring a smile to my face when I see one in my bag. These would make a lovely stocking filler for anyone who’s a fan of Disney – young or old.

I absolutely love personalised gifts, it’s so special to know it’s something just for you. This is actually a pencil case but I’m thinking of using it for makeup brushes instead. You can get a range of colours in both the bag and text so you can modify it to your taste. Squiffy Print also design tonnes of other bags, clothes and personalised homeware. Everything is made with love in the UK and very affordable.

Metcalfe’s Popcorn Thins Minis are mini corn discs covered with rich, moreish Italian chocolate. They come in dark and milk chocolate, in handy grab bags. Each bag only contains 118 calories so they’re a really great January snack! You can choose dark or milk chocolate, both are suitable for vegetarians, gluten free, and contain NO artificial flavours.

My clever friend Alex of Lamb & Bear has started making mummy & baby matching headbands to complement her range of leggings. We have the new flamingo print as well as the signature lamb and bear pattern. Luisa and I both love them, they’re soft, easy to wear and very cool. The perfect companion to your mum bun!

Phew! That’s a wrap, I know it’s a lot but as I said I’ve put this together with a view to it really being someones ‘main’ present. I have tested and genuinely reccomend each of the product included – in fact many of them I have purchased more than once.

What are you hoping to find in your stocking this year?
