Mocc Ons are the latest in a line of genius creations from entrepreneurial Mum of 6 Kezi Levin. Mocc Ons are basically a cross between a moccasin and a slipper sock. The leather sole helps to provide grip for those first forays into walking and the cotton sock element keeps little legs toasty.
Like all fabulous parenting inventions Kezi’s first innovation was borne of necessity. In her own words here are how the award winning Sock Ons came to be.
I’m a mum of six boys – and the idea behind Sock Ons came from my own family. We had a wedding in December, and my baby had to be dressed in formal clothes, but he kept pulling off his socks. I was on the verge of putting him in tights… But with my degree in graphic design, and love of coming up with mad inventions, one night I got out of bed, cut up my own tights and made a prototype for Sock Ons.
It worked. I now use a softly woven elastic material to “lock” babies’ socks gently and firmly in place. Today, I can’t believe my middle-of-the-night start-up idea has sold over a million Sock Ons around the world. I like to think I’ve saved a lot of lost socks!
We were recently offered the chance to put Mocc Ons to the test and I’m really impressed. Luisa is wearing size 6-12 months and they’re a great fit for her with a little room left so I think she’ll be wearing this size for a few more months still. Mocc Ons also come in sizes 12-18, 18-24 and 2-3.
You’ll be pleased to know that Mocc Ons are machine washable – a must for me! I’ve put them through the machine a few times and they’ve retained their shape and softness well. There are loads of designs available, from the bright rainbow ones modelled by Luisa to the cool converse or ballet style.
For me the best thing about the Mocc Ons is that they are perfect for babywearing. When Luisa is in the carrier her trousers often ride up leaving her little ankles exposed to the elements. Thanks to Mocc Ons we don’t have this problem anymore.
You can buy Mocc Ons from Amazon, Toys/Babies R Us, Sainsburys or Hippychick. The RRP is £9.99 but you’ll often find them on offer for around £7. If you like the sounds of this product and would like to try some for yourself I have 1 pair on Mocc Ons to give away. The pair I’m offering are in the cow print design, size 6-12 months.
