After a long day of being an over-worked, underpaid, nappy changing clown who moonlights as a bodyguard, chef and sick cleanerupper there’s nothing better than pouring a large G&T and lighting a beautiful candle. I don’t know about you but I treasure these little luxuries now more than ever.

Sandwick Bay Candles are eco-friendly soy candles hand poured in the Outer Hebrides. Their lovely creator and fellow mum Megan kindly sent me some to try out and extras to give away to a lucky reader.

Currently Sandwick Bay Candles come in 9 different scents and you can enjoy them in a small or large tin or glass jar. They are also available as wax melts and large 3 wick candles.

The fact that these lovely candles are made using soy wax doesn’t just mean their good for the earth. Soy wax doesn’t release toxins, carcinogens or pollutants into you home which means they’re less likely to trigger allergies than traditional paraffin candles.

The lower burning temperature means a soy candle will last 30-50% longer making them much better value for money.

The candles arrive beautifully packaged in brown paper tied up with string. Underneath the first layer of loveliness you’ll then find your candles stored in little gift boxes ties up with ribbon. This attention to detail makes them feel like a really luxurious treat and perfect for giving as a gift with no extra effort require by you on the presentation front.

My favourite flavour so far is black plum & rhubarb although I’m yet to try them all. As I said above the use of soy wax means these candles last for ages – the small tins alone have a 20 hour burn time. The scent is really strong without being overpowering. It sort of gently takes over your living room and floats through the house.  I love the fact that the sweet smell lingers around long after you’ve blown out the candle.

You can pick up your very own Sandwick Bay Candle starting from just £7 on their website but do keep an eye on the facebook page where there are often special offers and giveaways. Given the gorgeous scent, long burn time and lovely packaging I think these are a really smart purchase. If you’d like to try out a candle for yourself (who wouldn’t) then enter via the gleam form below to be in with a chance to have 2 tins coming your way.
