This Books for Baby offering is a double whammy featuring two striking books by Jane Foster. If you aren’t familair with my mini series please check out Books for Baby – August 2015 to see what it’s all about.
Jane Foster is a very talented designer and illustrator living in Devon. She has a quirky scandi come 60s style that she uses to create a range of homewares, craft projects and childrens books. If you’re a fan of scandi style or indeed Miffy you should head to Janes’ website for a mooch.
Her first two children’s titles are ABC & 123, they’re board books with high contast illustrations and imaginative design. Both titles are full of animals, familiar objects and striking patterns. As their names suggest they can be used to teach words and numbers but they put a fresh spin on it by using offbeat characters.
I really like how they have some raised and shiny parts inside to add texture. So far Luisa seems to really like them both even though she hasn’t the faintest idea what a giraffe is! What I love about these books is that they’ll be interesting to her for a long time and as they’re really high quality they will hold up.
