Okay so we’re not off to a good start with such a big contradiction in the title of this post but bear with me and we’ll get to the c-section part eventually. My biggest piece of advice for anyone at any stage of pregnancy or early motherhood is to just relax, go with the flow – don’t stress or over-analyse. Be prepared, sure, but don’t go mad with the books and classes and all that stuff. You really don’t need so much noise. In my opinion it will make you more stressed and overwhelmed in the long run. That being…

As I’m now 38 weeks into this pregnancy thought I had better get a wiggle on and update you on the last few weeks. I have a sneaky suspicion this may be my last update! yikes. (edit: I was right!)   A few things have changed since my last update. Sadly Matt has missed the deadline to qualify for Shared Parental Leave by 2 days. Part of the criteria to qualify states that you have to have been with your current employer for a certain length of time prior to the birth. This does seem grossly unfair to those who…

With only a few weeks left until our lives are turned upside down we’re almost ready, in a practical sense anyway. Just have a few more ‘bits’ to buy and a lot of rearranging to do. For anyone who’s interested here’s a visual of all the shite baby gear we’ve accumulated for the lovely new arrival. We also have… too many clothes, nappies, wipes, miscellaneous linen, toiletries, shoes (?!) a chicco baby carrier, changing bag, teddies, books, changing mat, kitchen sink. The infant has really taken over! If you’d like to know anything about the stuff pictured above, just shout.…

As you might know from reading my pregnancy updates I am very lucky in that stretch marks haven’t reared their head. Yet. I have a few little silvery marks you can see under a very bright light but I’m not fussed about that at all! In all honesty I’d like to think I wouldn’t care if they were a lot worse but that’s easy for me to say, right? I’m honestly quite surprised as I have pretty pale and sensitive skin. I bruise easily and almost all the little cuts and grazes I get become scars or imperfections. When I…

I’ve made it to 35 weeks pregnant but I must admit it’s starting to feel like 350 weeks! As you know, I’ve been generally well and had no major complaints but I’m just getting a little bored now. We’ve read the books, had the meltdowns, bought the gear – now we just need to have the baby! I’m trying to be mindful of my posture and getting up and down more carefully so I don’t strain my back or stomach but it’s easier said than done. I think I might need to relocate myself to the other side of the…

Hi everyone, today I’m sharing a quick update on how I’ve added to my wardrobe over the past few months. The last time I wrote a maternity style post I was 16 weeks pregnant and in that difficult ‘is-she, isn’t-she?’ stage. You can read that here. My staples consist of a few basics like some much-loved jeans from H&M that I wear probably 4/7 days a week *yikes* The ones I prefer are a skinny, jegging type, over the bump cut. The only criticism I have is that they are a little long for my stumpy legs. Another gem from…

“baby has a tight wee bottom” – midwife extrordinaire, April 2015 I really do love my midwife. She might always be insanely late but she’s a lovely lady! This week I went for a checkup by myself as Matt had to work. The usual blood pressure and urine checks came back fine. MW spent a bit of time checking babies position and really dug down into my pelvis which was not pleasant! Head is down but not engaged just bobbing around apparently. This week has brought swelling of epic proportions – A result of third trimester fun and the hot…

Hello 🙂 When this baby is born i’m going to bite it right on the butt. Yes, you read that correctly. I am going to bite my infant directly on the bum with my adult human teeth. My main motivation for this is revenge. For the last few weeks I’ve had a pinched nerve in my right ass cheek that makes me hobble, trip over and wince like there is a bat up my rectum, usually with no warning. Don’t judge me. So today I am 32+2 and firmly established in the third AND FINAL trimester. I know everyone says this…

If you’ve never bought a pram before then you simply have no idea the world of pain I was in just a few weeks ago. Matt and I have good sized families with plenty of little cousins but growing up we never paid any attention to the important parts of having / being an infant. Why would we? We don’t have any friends who live in this country with kids and so we’ve no ones lead to follow. My parents very kindly asked if we’d like them to buy us the pram for baby. Of course, we gratefully accepted and…
