There’s no getting away from it, the cold weather has come and it’s here to stay. I’m actually a fan of bright, cold days and love getting my winter clothes out of the wardrobe. Cosy jumpers, oversized scarves and of course ankle boots. I’m a big fan of comfy shoes, usually rocking converse and vans but in the winter I love stylish little boots to keep me warm and supported. For me the perfect boot has a little bit of a heel and looks great dressed up or down. I prefer leather because it’s easy to keep clean and if looked after will last for years to come. Being someone who wears a lot of black and grey I enjoy picking out boots that make a bit of a statement. Little details like embellishments, patterns and sparkle all catch my eye and go a long way to brightening up a…

It’s November, a glorious month otherwise known as ‘prechristmas’ in our house. I’m getting into the festive spirit with plenty of shopping and planning. I’ve mentioned before I do have a small problem with over indulging when it comes to Luisas wardrobe. This year I’m trying to be savvier and it’s going quite well… so far. I’ve begun by forgoing my usual Boden splurge and instead getting two gorgeous woodland animal cardigans from Matalan for less than half the price. I’ve also got a few seasonal pieces I grabbed in the January sales last year which are now the appropriate size for Luisa – winning! Nevertheless I know i’ll have to indulge in a little bit of a shopping spree to pull her festive wardrobe together so today I’m sharing my picks from my favourite high-street retailers for kiddos – JoJo Maman Bebe and Mothercare.     One of the…

Bobux kindly sent us these boots in exchange for an honest review I feel like parenting a toddler is made up of a succession of realisations that everything has changed, again. Babies change physically, before our eyes, at the time I didn’t really notice it – it’s only when I look back at photos I see how quickly Luisa grew and evolved. Babyhood can feel long, drawn out, a constant slow pushing to the next milestone. There’s almost an unspoken impatience for your baby to learn, become and do. Toddlers on the other hand, they just won’t stop changing. Or maybe it’s an illusion and it’s only now that I can appreciate how fleeting childhood is that I feel each new version of Luisa so acutely.   This past month I’ve seen a huge change in Luisas’ speech. She can talk more than I can and that’s saying something. Most…

As much as I love summer and all the fun it brings to my wardrobe I really embrace the colder months. Sure, I’ll moan about the rain like all good Brits but I love snuggly jumpers, dark evenings and hot spiced drinks. A/W ’17 is looking pretty extra to me with bold red outfits, slogan tees, amazing tights and over the top embellishments dominating the runways. Can I get a ‘hell yes’ for all of this?! I’m really trying to move towards a more minimalist capsule wardrobe so I’m chuffed that a lot of ‘what’s hot’ for the coming months can actually be put together from my current wardrobe. As someone who is basically addicted to feminist slogan tees I’m glad to see they won’t be going out of style anytime soon. Not that I’d stop wearing them anyway…     So who’s with me? Oversized jumpers, berry lips, trusty…

*I was sent this PacaPod backpack in exchange for an honest review. Something I’ve struggled with ever since finding out I was pregnant is worrying that I look too ‘mumsy’. I think a lot of you will be able to relate to this, from day 1 I found that most maternity ranges were a bit mature for my taste. Whilst the clothes were really comfortable I felt like I was playing dress up in someone else’s wardrobe. Even now, whenever I shop for new clothes or try a new hairstyle I worry that I look drab or I’m just going for convenience and compromising my personal style. I think a lot of these feeling come from an insecurity that becoming a mum means a loss of identity. When I was pregnant I didn’t buy a baby bag, one came free with my pram and I was more than happy to use it.…

I don’t know about you but being ‘plus-size’ (I hate that phrase but let’s not go there today) and having my confidence ravaged thanks to months in the house with a toddler and very few social engagements the thought of a ‘summer wardrobe’ doesn’t have me jumping for joy. But, as ever, I’m trying to get out of my head and comfort zone to make the most of the hot weather both here in the UK and on my holiday to Spain in August. I’ve been doing some shopping and I’ve started to pull together a little bit of a holiday wardrobe without breaking the bank or crying in a changing room. Success! ‘Mama Merch ‘ is an absolute staple in my wardrobe, year round. 5 days out of 7 you’ll find me rocking jeggings and some kind of Mama graphic tee. To bring my slogan tee collection in from the…

Summer is coming and I am ready to embrace the warmer day and longer nights. I feel like Spring is a great motivator and this year I’m trying to switch up my beauty ‘regime’ a little.     I’m willing to bet I’m not the only mum who hasn’t shaved their legs in 4-6 months so the first step in my quest to be ‘summer ready’ is to loose the winter coat. We’re going to Spain in a few weeks and I’m planning to get a spray tan before we go so I need to be smooth first! As you can imagine I don’t have a great deal of time on my hands so i’m toying with the idea of getting a professional waxing kit to handle this situation and minimise the need for ‘upkeep’.   Photo Credit – Epilator Home There’s a limit to how good you can look without…

Hands up who spends half the morning staring at the pile of clothes on the floor, wandering aimlessly to the clean ones in a mound in the kitchen and then half heartedly poking the dirty mountain for good measure? I have so many clothes and nothing to wear because it’s all so uninspiring. Half of it is too big or too small or just done and devoid of shape. A good portion of what’s left I genuinely don’t like and never wear. That leaves us with about 15% of my clothing actually being worn on a regular basis and I can count one one hand the bits I would save from a house fire.   This just will not do. I need to streamline, dump and build up again. I really don’t want to live a life surrounded by clothes that either don’t suit or I don’t like. I feel like…

Like most mums, I think, I tend to live vicariously through Luisa. One of my vices is clothes shopping for her, there are just so many cute things you can pick up and thanks to online shopping it’s oh so easy for a few bits to fall in your basket. I’ve been taking on a lot fewer reviews on the blog this year but when one of my favourite brands got in touch about their new collection I couldn’t help myself.     I featured From Babies With Love in November when I showed you their range of organic soft toys. Just to recap – FBWL are a fab company, every penny of profit from their unique, ethically sourced designs goes to orphaned and abandoned children around the world. And to ensure the money is spent in the right way they have their own foundation. SOS Children’s Villages is a charity who…
